Food Photography Making Your Dishes Look As Good As They Taste

Food Photography Making Your Dishes Look As Good As They Taste

Saturday 01 February

Ever wonder why that Quarter Pounder with Cheese looks so mouthwatering when you drove by the billboard, yet when you go to the drive-through right after to get one, it looks nothing in real life like it does in that photograph?

Ever wonder how produce is made to look so fresh and colorful with water droplets that seem to last forever? And we all have looked at a menu and wondered how they got the items to look so outrageously delicious? You would be surprised how simple it is to manipulate food in photography. It's all tricks of the trade! Personally one of my favorite subjects to shoot because subjects are usually colorful, there's a lot of creative leeway on how you light it, depending on what the purpose your image will be meant to serve.

Join me in a two hour, Hands-On creative workshop in the art of Food Photography!

Ever wonder how some images show the same waterfall two completely different ways and wondered what was the difference? How did Ansel Adams do it? Or you were attracted to the way a photograph can show a group of cyclists stopped dead in their tracks, or as one big colorful blur? Well, it's all in mastering your shutter speed which can be manipulated by several other factors such as ISO and lens speeds. This class will open up your creativity and your imagination to take your images to an exciting level. We will discuss how to stop motion dead in its tracks as well as the long exposures that capture it and how to manipulate them. You will have even more creative freedom after taking this workshop.

It is a well-known secret of professional photographers since time began that the most beautiful light is naturally existing light but you must learn ‘How to use it properly' first. As with artificial light, it must be diffused and the shadows softened. However, you can save yourself the expense of professional photo lighting all why using the most beautiful light source there is, the sun. Whether it be indoors or out, a still life or a portrait, natural sunlight can be manipulated the same way we manipulate it's man-made cousin. Come to this two hour workshop and learn everything you need to know about manipulating the most gorgeous light source there is for literally pennies on the dollar in comparison.

Oils on 56cm x 46cm canvas. Large for me!A larger canvas really does provide a wonderful opportunity to dive into the textures and subtleties of the lion cub's fur, and those expressive little details?like the way its eyes catch the light. Oils allows you to layer and blend, giving more depth and ability to play with the softness of the fur.

Winter?s grip on the Straits of Mackinac slowly melts away with each passing day of warm sunshine. The ice cover gradually retreats with the approaching spring and renewal of another shipping season on the Great Lakes. Round Island Lighthouse has been a sentinel and silent witness to this annual ritual for over a hundred years.
